Go on a Treasure Hunt

Take the Bible, dig deep into the scriptures and you will find more treasure than you can imagine!

Everybody struggles to open God's word. We live in a fallen world and there are always distractions, moods, emotions, excuses, procrastination, and just plain old rebellion that keep up from opening the bible. But what we're really missing when we do that is turning away from God Himself. He is His word.  His word is His Mind, his Heart, who He is. Have you ever thought about that?
Psalm 119:11 says, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." The more we hide God's word in our hearts, the more we are filling our deceitful hearts with truth rather than deceit.

What happens we dig into God's word and go deeper than just reading a verse or two? We go on a treasure hunt through looking up cross references, reading the entire text for context, and searching for Greek and Hebrew meanings. The more we do this, the more treasures we find that we didn't see before. The more we know God and the more our heart rejoices.

God's word is a treasure. Its more valuable than your 401K, gold and silver. It is the one treasure that will last forever. The bible tells us to "not store up for yourselves treasure on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal" (Matthew 6:19-20)

Take time today and open God's word. Go on a treasure hunt and see where He takes you through the reading of His word. I guarantee it will be the best way you can spend some time alone.

We've got to keep staying in God's word. It is life! Praying for you all this morning as I write this post.
