Hey friends! Last week I rolled out "30 quotes from Oswald." I think everyone enjoyed it. Oswald Chambers devotional "My Utmost for His Highest" is one of my favorites and I want to hear what you have to say regarding some of these stellar quotes.
Today's quote comes from "My Utmost for His Highest Journal" on the February 12th date/page.
"We show how little we love God by preferring to listen to His servants only. We like to listen to personal testimonies, but we do not desire that God Himself should speak to us? Because we know that if God does speak, either the thing must be done or we must tell God we will not obey Him. If it is only the servant's voice we hear, we feel it is not imperative, we can say, "Well, that is simply your own idea, though I don't deny it is probably God's truth."

ReplyDeleteSometimes it is alot easier to listen to other people, especially if we are not in the Word like we should be! It is easier to go to someone else with a problem or answer that we need rather than God, especially if we are not getting the answer we want from God I think or we don't hear from Him right away or don't understand how He is working in and around us! We want the quick answer the easy way, I think it comes with our culture too! I struggle with this alot! Wanting God to answer my greatest desire and feeling like He will never answer! It is hard!
ReplyDeleteJulie, you are so right! Everyone struggles with waiting on God. I do too! We miss hearing Him speak when we don't come to him first with everything. And you pinpointed the reason we don't come to him first, we usually aren't in the word. When I am not in the word like I should be, I find I am more apt to run to a friend when I should really be stopping and running to my savior. Let's think about this and try to apply it. Before we share with others, let's come to God and wait. HE will speak. Great comment. Thanks for posting.
