Manna Monday- Week Six

This past weekend, my son came up to me and whispered in my ear, "Momma, I need to tell you a secret." I said, "ok, what is it?" He said, "you need to raise your hands in the air and just praise the LORD."  Praise comes from the mouth of babes doesn't it! I encourage him to praise the LORD all the time, but didn't think I would be encouraged so quickly to do the same. So with that in mind, I think the best way to start our Monday morning is to do just that!  Raise your hands in the air and praise the LORD this morning. When we stop and praise the LORD, we take the focus off of ourself and turn all of it towards Him.

This week are memorizing 139:6. We are memorizing the entire passage. How is it going? Let's jog our memory of the entire passage:

1. O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
2. You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
   You understand my thought from afar.
3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
   And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
4.Even before there is a word on my tongue,
   Behold, O LORD, You know it all.

5.You have enclosed me behind and before,

   And laid Your hand upon me.

6. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
     It is too high, I cannot attain to it.

The Psalmist comes to kind of a pause in his thinking after contemplating all the ways God knows him intimately in verse 1-5. In verse 6, we get a glimpse at how the psalmist is amazed about how well God knows him. Not only amazed, but I am convinced he is convicted that because God knows him so well, there is nothing he can hide from God. Some days it is easy to go about in our day under the radar because no one knows what we're thinking or really feeling. We can pretend to have a smile on our face when we are discouraged. We can be nice when we really want to be mean. We can act like everything is ok, when inside we are fearful and don't know how things will turn out. We can pretend to everyone around us but we can't come pretending to GOD. He knows it all. We cannot hide our sin from Him. He knows why we are bitter or angry. He knows why we are discouraged. He knows why we are feeling frustrated or fearful. He knows why we are anxious. He knows we are worried about our finances, our family, our job.

Don't come pretending to God. Come honestly before Him and tell Him what you are hiding. Stand in awe of his perfect knowledge of you this week as you memorize this scripture.
